HERE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS

Separation can be an emotional minefield full of entanglements and complications. We have answers for a few questions that our clients frequently bring up. If you have a question we haven’t covered, contact us here and we will answer it.

We understand that people want to resolve their family law issues without spending an arm and a leg. By getting things off on the right track early on, you can avoid expensive pitfalls down the road.

We have built a talented team to help every family law case. While the lawyers do the heavy lifting, we use our paralegals to great effect to help keep your costs down.

If you can make your relationship work, you should. If you have exhausted all avenues to fix it, separation may be your best alternative. But be prepared. This is going to be a bumpy road. You will get beyond it.

Our clients often tell us that they wished they hired a lawyer earlier. We would rather help you navigate a successful separation than litigate a nasty divorce.

If it does get ugly, we can do that too, but it really takes a toll on people and their bank accounts.

To get a divorce, you will need to obtain an order from the Supreme Court of British Columbia. If there is no dispute and you just need to get this court order, we can help. Ask about our flat fees for “uncontested” (fight-free) divorce orders.

That’s tough. You need to act fast. The longer you wait, the more the “status quo” acts against you. If your spouse refuses to cooperate, sometimes the only option is to get a court order.

Negotiation may work. But it may not. When it doesn’t, negotiation can be more expensive and less effective than court. When your spouse will not listen to reason, then getting a court order is your best option.

Talk to us and we will talk to them.

You were just hit by an emotional freight train. We know it takes time to absorb. If your spouse is planning on ending the relationship, they may have been planning for a while.

At this stage, your words and actions matter. The next step for you is to understand your rights and your partner’s responsibilities. Give us a call and we will help you sort through what comes next.

Hiring a lawyer is not an act of war. We help people come to peaceful, lasting resolutions.

Many of our clients have come to us for legal advice after they have negotiated a bad deal. It is then difficult to bring their spouse back to the negotiating table. Hiring us before you negotiate will help you come to a deal that makes sense. You should have a clear view of all your options before you negotiate.

Above all else, we are discreet.  Only you will know you talked to a lawyer.

Our decades of experience have taught us that the best settlements come from being ready for trial.

Having lawyers willing to go the distance and capable of doing the work needed to prove your case in court, means the other side will take you seriously.  And your chances of a good outcome are vastly improved.
